Saru Maas Bhoja – How to stir fry small fish ?

Saru Maas Bhoja or small fish stir fry is a dish probably all non-veg Assamese love to eat. It is a very quick but delicious dish . My whole family loves it. I enjoy Preparing this dish 🙂

Ingredients
  • 200 gm small fish
  • 2 nos onion (large) sliced
  • 4-5 nos garlic cloves chopped
  • 2 nos green chillies sliced
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • mustard oil for frying
  • salt to taste
  • coriander leaves/Fitweed leaves (optional)

Instructions
  1. Sprinkle the fish pieces with half a teaspoon of the turmeric powder and salt .
  2. Heat mustard oil in a deep pan set over medium heat and half fry the fishes . Keep aside.
  3. In the remaining oil add onion, garlic, chillies, half tsp of turmeric and a little bit salt and fry until the onion gets brown. Do not over fry the onions.
  4. Now add the half fried fish to it and mix well. Let it be in the pan for 2-3 minutes or until the fishes are well cooked.
  5. Remove from pan to a serving dish.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves or Fitweed leaves .
  7. Serve hot with rice.
